Réunion Island

Jerome, fr4qk, is secretary of a radio club - and a radio control aficionado and drone pilot. In fact, Réunion sounds like a haven for technical hobbyist activity. Note the small satellite dish - it's right under the orbit on the equator.

I've said this before and I'll say it again - the French have made a far better job of managing their dependendies/ colonies than the Brits have.

Réunion Island, a French department in the Indian Ocean, is known for its volcanic, rainforested interior, coral reefs and beaches. Its most iconic landmark is Piton de la Fournaise, a climbable active volcano standing 2,632m (8,635 ft.).

Piton des Neiges, a massive extinct volcano, and Réunion’s 3 calderas (natural amphitheaters formed by collapsed volcanoes), are also climbing destinations.

Like Rodriguez Island, Reunion looks absolutely bloody lovely. And being French, the food will be fabulous.

As a French Department, it will feel just like a piece of France planted in the Indian Ocean, and French culture prevails.

You can book your trip with Expedia, where 2 weeks for two adults costs from as little as £1500.

15m is civilised after the mayhem of 20m

Straight in ...  there has been a flurry of 4 or 5 Reunion stations on 15 lately and managed to contact Jerome quite painlessly. And note the linguistic versatility (!)

I found fr4qk on 15m ...

Workable signal - but a lot of QSB.

The prop forecast for the time and frequency seems about right.
